When Nathan first considered fostering, he had doubts. Would he be able to handle the challenges? Could he do it as a single person? “If your heart's in the right place, then you’ll probably find that the things holding you back aren’t as insurmountable as they seem,” Nathan says. Nathan runs a small construction and handyman business. Almost a year ago, he decided to take the leap into foster care. Today, he’s in the process of adopting the very first child placed with him—a journey that started with uncertainty and ended with a happy ending. He credits Necco for making the process approachable: “They just made it seem easier. They seemed like they wanted to work with me, and I know they’re going to pick up when I call. That’s really important, especially when you’re single.” For Nathan, fostering has brought joy and life into his home: “The best thing about having him there is just—it’s not empty. It’s nice to come home and there’s life there. There’s probably a mess right now, but it’s never dull.” Nathan also wants to bust the myths about foster kids: “A lot of stereotypes exist—that they’re damaged, they don’t behave, they’ll cause problems. I read into that too much. I was pleasantly surprised to find out they’re just like any other kids. If you’re willing to give them a chance, you might be surprised too.” Watch Nate's full story here: https://youtu.be/EMoIvU4jl0c Thinking about fostering or adopting?
