Counseling FAQ

General Counseling Questions

Necco welcomes both self-referrals and referrals from a diverse group of sources, including schools, guardians, family members, courts, physicians, social services and other community partners.

Case management is the coordination of community-based services to provide mental health care that is customized for an individual's specific needs. Case management seeks to support our clients’ recovery through a holistic approach that may include traditional mental health services as well as primary healthcare, housing, transportation, employment, social relationships, and community participation. It is the link between the client and the care delivery system.

We currently serve children (beginning at age 3), teens and young adults. We are also happy to serve family members that are directly involved in children lives.

Telehealth is a new way to connect to our team. Therapists and Case Managers can connect with individuals through video chatting services, such as Zoom or Skype. This allows our team to meet when face to face is not a possibility or if the individual prefers the teletherapy option.

Know Before You Go

There are no out-of-pocket costs for clients with Medicaid, and Necco accepts all Medicaid MCOs. A sliding scale for non-insured clients may be available per location.

Individual sessions are aimed at helping kids feel comfortable opening up to a mental health professional. Therefore, it is encouraged to allow the child to choose whether or not someone else joins the session.

Necco has an amazing team of compassionate, dedicated individuals ready to help. They provide a positive, private environment to help clients feel comfortable during sessions. Necco uses a number of proven techniques and interventions to develop tailored plans that best fit the needs of the individual client. Examples of our methods includes play therapy, expressive arts therapy, trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy, group therapy, and many others.

Youths age 15 or older can begin receiving services while we coordinate and advocate with your guardian for consent. Youth age 14 and above can seek treatment for substance abuse issues without parental consent. As part of this treatment, however, there will be encouragement to include family and other support in your treatment.

When a referral is made, someone from our Necco team will make contact within 24 hours. During the first session a counselor will meet with you to understand your needs and identify your goals.
