About the Necco Center The Necco Center campus is situated on 34 acres adjacent to the Wayne National Forest in Lawrence County, Ohio, providing a structured and therapeutic setting designed to support youth with complex needs.

Our campus is supported by a multidisciplinary team that includes licensed clinical professionals, nursing staff, on‑site psychiatric services, an on‑site school, and highly trained residential direct care staff. All team members receive specialized training to support youth with autism diagnoses and co‑occurring behavioral health needs.

Who We Serve The Necco Center serves male youth ages 9–21. All youth admitted to the program have a diagnosis of an Intellectual or Developmental Disability (IDD), along with multiple co‑occurring behavioral health diagnoses.

The program is designed specifically for youth who have been assessed with an IQ of 70 or below.

The Necco Center provides a full continuum of Clinical, Medical, and Educational Services, allowing care, treatment, and instruction to be delivered seamlessly within one campus environment.

Necco’s program includes an on‑site clinical team led by an independently licensed clinician available 24/7.

Each youth is supported by:

  • A Case Manager (primary point of contact)

  • A Therapist

  • A Qualified Mental Health Specialist (QMHS)

The Case Manager oversees service planning, coordinates monthly reports, and ensures consistent communication related to treatment and progress.

Medical care is provided by an on‑site nursing team, including:

  • Registered Nurses (RNs)

  • Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs)

  • Trained medication administration staff

The campus team administers all medications and coordinates outside medical care as needed.

Psychiatric services include:

  • A Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner providing psychiatric assessments and medication management

  • An on‑site Psychiatrist offering evaluation, consultation, and guidance for complex clinical cases

Westwood Preparatory Academy is an ODE‑licensed educational program providing on‑site schooling for youth in residential care.

Westwood specializes in meeting the academic, social, and emotional needs of students in residential settings. Services exceed alternative education requirements and are delivered by a dedicated team of:

  • Licensed teachers

  • Intervention specialists

  • Paraprofessionals (teacher aides)

In addition to core services, the Necco Center integrates Trauma‑Informed Care and structured Behavior Supports grounded in QRTP‑approved, evidence‑based practices.

The Necco Center is a Qualified Residential Treatment Program (QRTP) utilizing approved trauma‑informed models, including:

  • Trauma‑Responsive Care: The CALMER Approach

  • Trauma‑Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF‑CBT)

All staff receive training in these models during orientation, with annual refreshers and

ongoing trauma‑informed training provided throughout the year.

Our on‑site team includes Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) and collaboration

with regional partners providing Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) services.

The Necco Center also partners with regional healthcare providers to deliver:

  • Occupational Therapy

  • Physical Therapy

  • Speech‑Language Pathology

All services are provided on campus to ensure continuity of care.
