Could You Be A Foster Parent?

Recent studies show that the number of children placed in foster care increased for the fourth consecutive year last year, with many of these children being placed in temporary group homes because there are not enough foster families available.

We want to change that.

At Necco, we believe that every kid is just one caring adult away from living a more productive life. We are on a mission to:

  • Educate - We want the role of the foster parent to be understood. We also want to clarify misconceptions surrounding the responsibilities of the foster parent and the expectations of both the foster parent and foster child.

  • Shake-up the stigmas - Misinformation and generalization can hurt! Kids in foster care are not bad kids, they have just been dealt a bad hand. We aim to eliminate stigmas, one positive story at a time.

  • Change the face of child welfare - We challenge you to look within. In giving of yourself to help a child in need, the life you change just may be your own!

You don’t need to be a superhero to be a foster parent. You just need to be able to pack lunches, drive to soccer practice, and give small, consistent acts of kindness. Kids thrive on love and structure. Founder Beau Necco says: Kids are like industrialized rubber; they will bounce back with small, incremental changes. Get started today!

Being a Successful Foster Parent

Parenting is hard. All parents potentially face difficulties and tough situations. However, unlike biological parents, foster parents receive support from the Necco team throughout the time they have children in their care. We are a family building families. From nutrition support to social, behavioral and mental health support to education support, foster parents have numerous resources available to them.

Being a successful foster parent means having an open heart, a flexible spirit, a willingness to learn and remembering above all that they are taking a kid who means nothing to no one and making them something to someone.

While all of these traits are important, having a flexible spirit is critical because some children who enter foster care are reunited with their birth parents. Foster parents need to accept that they may have to facilitate visitations and court appearances. On the flip side, however, by building a positive relationship and bond with their foster child, they also can potentially “jump the line” and adopt them.

At Necco we build families.

Across West Virginia, Ohio, Kentucky, and Georgia we’ve placed thousands of children with supportive and caring families. We have foster parents from a variety of backgrounds and walks of life. Married, single, same-sex parents, homemakers, professionals, and everyone in between, all that matters is your desire to give these children comfort, stability, and love.

Foster Care to Adoption

Foster parents join Necco to build families. Some families open their hearts and homes to provide children with a safe, stable, and loving temporary home. Other families are interested in creating a forever family through adoption. If the latter is you, the fastest way to adopt is through Necco’s Foster2Adopt Program. Families who foster-to-adopt are awarded adoption benefits not available through a traditional private adoption.
