Hailey Cardin began her Necco career in January of 2015 as a Therapist with our Mental Health Program in Paducah, KY. That was just the first of many big life changes for Hailey in 2015. In April she married her husband Adam and moved out of her parents’ house, and later in the year she obtained her Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPCA) certification.
Hailey immediately loved the culture Necco provided. In the summer of 2016, she transitioned from the Mental Health Program to the Foster Care Program. As a self-professed team player, Hailey was excited to work with a larger team on the Foster Care side of the company. In her new role as a Foster Care Therapist, Hailey faced challenges such as unique traumas and age groups that she hadn’t previously encountered. These experiences allowed her to grow as a therapist and as a person.
To stick with the theme of big changes coming in bunches for Hailey, she found out she was pregnant with her son Asher in November of 2017, earned her Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) certification in March of 2018, and just two months later she became the Paducah Treatment Director! Hailey says the Treatment Director position allowed her to grow as a leader in the office and have a guiding hand in other future therapists that would be brought on board. Most importantly, the promotion allowed Hailey to continue to challenge herself.
In August of 2018 Asher was born, and Hailey’s life was transformed. Her priorities shifted from career first to family first. She wanted to spend as much time as possible with her new baby boy. A few months before Asher’s first birthday in early 2019 Hailey put in her notice. She cried for weeks leading up to her resignation and remembers feeling physically sick because she truly loved Necco and didn’t want to leave. As with most tough decisions, sacrifices must be made.
After Hailey left Necco, she transitioned to a new job that she hoped would give her more time at home with her son, and less time on call or in an office at odd hours. Unfortunately, the new job turned out to be different than she expected, and by October, she had resigned. It was the shortest amount of time she had ever spent at a job. One of her biggest motivations to quit was a phone call she had in September with her former Paducah Program Director, Cassandra (Cassie) Dann. Hailey remembers being on vacation in Disney World with her family, but still not being able to get past the unhappiness that came with her new job. She called Cassie and asked if they had filled her old position.
When she returned from her trip, she had lunch with Cassie and discussed everything from her thoughts and feelings, to her core desires deep in her heart. It was a conversation you could only have with a friend or family member. So, as it turns out, Hailey came back to Necco for the same reason she had left, to be closer to her family.
Shortly after her lunch with Cassie, Hailey applied for the Clinical Program Director position (which was the renamed version of her old Treatment Director position) and she rejoined the Necco team. Hailey says she loves the mission, fun atmosphere, ample PTO, and overall corporate culture of Necco, but most of all she loves her team in Paducah! She has grown with them and truly considers them her family.
