Necco's Logan office recently sponsored a performance of Shrek The Musical, presented by Southern Coalition for the Arts at the Coalfield Jamboree in Logan, WV. As sponsors, Necco was invited to attend a special "green carpet VIP premiere" of the show and reception on September 4, 2014. Necco employees Rebecca Adams, Okey Newsome and Ronnie Thompson attended the VIP premiere and walked the green carpet for a special photo op.
The sponsored performance of Shrek The Musical was held on Saturday, September 6, 2014, and over 500 people were in attendance. This performance also served as Logan's annual summer outing for families. Necco Nation and their families represented about 150 of the 500 audience members for the performance. As a special thank you for their sponsorship, Necco had a full page ad in the playbill, a banner inside the theatre, media coverage on the radio and was presented with a framed Shrek The Musical poster signed by the entire cast.
Necco was well represented in the cast of Shrek The Musical, as Home Resources Coordinator Rebecca Adams portrayed the role of Mama Bear, while Billing Specialist Ronnie Thompson portrayed the character, Pinocchio. Ty Hensley, the son of Logan foster parents, Kim and Jessie Hensley was also part of the cast, and brought the role of Peter Pan to life. It was truly a magical evening. Seeing the smiles on the faces of Necco foster youth and watching them cheer and dance during the performance embodied one of Necco's core Hobbs principle's - a child should know some joy in each day.
