What are the steps to becoming a foster parent?

Fostering is a family decision. We encourage our applicants to have discussions about the decision to foster with the entire family. Once you and your family have determined that fostering is for you, the next step is to contact your local office and speak with a Home Resource Coordinator (HRC). Although the approval process can vary from state to state, generally, you can expect: - Weekly training sessions - Home visits made to your home - A home study completed on you and your family - Background checks
