Prevention Services
PRIME for life Under 21 is a researched based alcohol and drug use prevention program focused on risk reduction and outcome-based measures. The program is designed for groups of youth ages 13-20 who are either already engaged in high-risk drinking or drug use, or are in a group that may become involved in high-risk behaviors.
As a prevention program, the curriculum works to reduce the risks of impairment problems, such as drinking and driving, and long-term alcohol and drug related health problems such as alcoholism. As an intervention program, it works to interrupt the progression into alcoholism and chemical dependency and to motivate participants to seek appropriate help.
The PRIME For Life! Under 21 Curriculum:
Teaches through a 4-step persuasion process that includes:

2. Validating the apparent reasonableness of the view
3. Gently challenging the view with new information
4. Replacing the old view with the new one
Teaches the five principles and five conditions of the Lifestyle Risk Reduction Models of prevention to show that alcohol and drug addiction is a health problem that can affect everyone.
Teaches participants to determine their individual level of biological risk for developing alcoholism and drug addiction. (Biology + Quantity / Frequency = Total Risk)
Assists participants in developing a low risk life style plan.
Includes a take home study guide for each participant's future reference. provides current and former foster youth with consistent and positive interactions with a responsible and caring adult.
